Overview
YouGrooveMe is an electronic music platform connecting artists and listeners through curated playlists, live streaming events, and a shared love for genres like house, techno, and ambient. At its core, the platform is about community, discovery, and sonic expression.

Challenge
The brand needed a visual identity that spoke to both nostalgic roots and the cutting edge, a design that would resonate with long-time electronic music fans while staying fresh and relevant in today’s digital culture.

Approach
To strike that balance, I developed a visual language that merges old-school cues with modern aesthetics. The branding incorporates subtle retro elements, layered with bold, trend-aware design and 3D treatments to create depth and motion. The result is a dynamic system that feels timeless yet forward-thinking, perfectly aligned with YouGrooveMe’s hybrid spirit.

The Idea Behind the Logo Design

The YouGrooveMe logo was designed to capture the energy and evolution of electronic music culture, where retro nostalgia meets futuristic edge. At its core is an anagram-style monogram of the letters “YGM,” housed within a slanted elliptical frame that suggests motion and rhythm. Surrounding the form are dot details, inspired by 90s and Y2K-era iconography, an intentional nod to vintage Japanese tech branding.

The secondary logo spells out “YouGrooveMe” in a sleek, minimal typeface, offering flexibility across digital and event-based applications. To elevate the identity and reflect the platform’s modernity, a 3D metallic version of the primary mark was created, adding a layer of boldness and digital polish. The overall result is a system that feels both timeless and progressive just like the music it represents.

Since its launch, YouGrooveMe has successfully built a strong and engaged following within Montreal’s vibrant electronic music scene. The brand’s visual identity has played a key role in this growth, especially through striking social media posts and event flyers that have generated impressive engagement, with up to 20,000 views and 600 shares per flyer. This consistent and compelling presence has helped YouGrooveMe seamlessly integrate into the local culture while amplifying its community-driven mission.
